News about the 2016 law graduation at Camden:

Families and friends are invited to these graduation events, and no tickets or registration are required.

 

A. Class Day (Awards Ceremony) will take place the day before graduation, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 on the Clark Commons on the Law Bridge, at 3:00 pm. The ceremony will be followed by a light reception in the Faculty Lounge. Friends and family are welcome to the ceremony. No RSVP required. A list of award recipients will be posted on the graduation webpage before the event, and specific instructions will be sent to those receiving awards. Professional dress is recommended. We will have a photographer on site, and photos will be posted on the webpage.

 

B. Commencement

   We are pleased to announce that our graduation speaker will be Faustino "Fuzzy" Fernandez-Vina, New Jersey Supreme Court Justice. The Justice, a graduate of Rutgers Law School, was born in Cuba, and served in various leadership positions in Camden County Hall of Justice since 2004, including as Assignment Judge.     An honorary degree will be presented to Sister Mary Scullion of Project Home.

Parking for graduation:

Free parking in City Lot 1 (BB&T Center), Rutgers Lot C11 (Waterfront) and Camden County Technology Parking Garage. For parking at the BB&T Pavilion, see http://www.camden.rutgers.edu/commencement/parking-directions

 

Transportation:

Beginning at 11am, there will be two Rutgers New Brunswick busses transporting guests from campus to BB&T and back after ceremony for reception. For Law School the busses will do round trips from Fifth Street under Clark Commons to the front of BB&T (see below chart for bus location). Each New Brunswick bus has a capacity of 39 seating and 28 standing for a total of 67 so at one time they can shuttle 134 people. It is understood that these two New Brunswick busses must be in front of the BB&T Center by 3:15pm, prepared to pick up guests for the 3:30pm end-time of Rutgers Law Commencement.

 

The Graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 2 PM at the BB&T Pavilion http://www.livenation.com/venues/14115/bb-t-pavilion (formerly the Susquehanna Bank Center).

Law graduates should report to the Ben Franklin doors at 1 pm. Friends and family members will enter through the Walt Whitman side. No tickets are needed to attend the Law School Commencement ceremony. On graduation day, wear your regalia, but not the hood. Regalia has 4 pieces: a gown with a working zipper that fits you correctly, a tam (not the undergraduate cap), a tassel and a hood. Make sure the hood is unbuttoned, and carry it draped over your left arm on graduation day. You will be hooded on stage. It is difficult for the hooders to get the hood over your head if the hood is buttoned.

 

Recessional March:

After the graduation ceremony, the Grand Marshall will exit the stage on stage right. Graduates should stand at this point. The Dean will follow the grand Marshall, and will stop to meet the first graduate at the bottom of the steps. The first graduate should march out next to the Dean, followed by rows of graduates who will march side by side next to the faculty members as they exit the stage.

 

Immediately after the Commencement Ceremony we will march back to the law school along the waterfront. Shuttles will be available to take graduates and guests who do not want to march back to campus.

 

A light reception will be held on the Clark Commons on the Law Bridge. Friends and family are welcome to the ceremony. No RSVP required. Diplomas will be distributed at the law school (no real diplomas are given out on stage at the ceremony). If you do not wish to keep your graduation regalia, please bring it to Room E-110. Diplomas will be distributed in room E-110.
